ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Design Manager, you will lead and coordinate the design process throughout the full lifecycle of construction projects, from conceptual planning through construction execution and project closeout. You will serve as the key connection between clients, architects, engineers, consultants, and internal project teams to ensure design intent, constructability, budget, and schedule objectives are successfully aligned.

This role requires a strong understanding of architectural and engineering coordination, design development, construction documentation, and project delivery methodologies. You will be responsible for managing design schedules, facilitating collaboration among stakeholders, and proactively resolving design-related challenges to support efficient project execution.

This position demands exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills, as you will guide multidisciplinary teams through complex project requirements while maintaining a high standard of quality and client satisfaction. Your ability to balance technical design considerations with operational and construction needs will be critical to the success of the projects you support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and manage the design process for complex construction projects from pre-design through construction administration and project closeout.
• Coordinate architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment between design intent, project scope, budget, and schedule.
• Manage design schedules, deliverables, and review processes to maintain project timelines and minimize delays.
• Facilitate design meetings and serve as the primary point of contact for all design-related communication and decision-making.
• Review drawings, specifications, and construction documents for quality, constructability, completeness, and compliance with project requirements and applicable codes.
• Collaborate closely with project management and field teams to support seamless transition from design through construction execution.
• Identify, assess, and resolve design conflicts, scope gaps, and coordination issues proactively throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support value engineering initiatives and provide recommendations to optimize project performance, cost efficiency, and constructability.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and trade partners while ensuring a high level of customer service and responsiveness.
• Ensure adherence to company standards, quality control procedures, and industry best practices throughout all phases of design management.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
• 5+ years of experience in design management, architecture, engineering, or construction project coordination within the construction industry.
• Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and coordinating complex construction projects.
• Strong understanding of design development, construction documentation, building systems, and construction methodologies.
• Proficiency in design and project management software, including Autodesk products, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of building codes, permitting processes, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management principles.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and disciplines.
• Experience supporting mission-critical, life sciences, industrial, healthcare, or complex commercial projects is a plus.

The base salary range for this position is $140,000–$180,000 annually. This role may also be eligible for bonus opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package. Compensation decisions are based on several factors including experience, qualifications, and business needs.
